Blizzard Announces ‘Diablo Immortal’ for iOS

Blizzard/Activision announces Diablo Immortal for iOS

If you are a fan of the Diablo series from Blizzard (now Blizzard/Activision) and have been hoping that maybe, some day, a full-featured game would land on iOS devices in the future, that wait is almost over.

Today at BlizzCon, the big conference focused on Blizzard/Activision products and IPs, the company officially announced what it’s calling Diablo Immortal. This is a new title in the long-running Diablo franchise and it is indeed a full-featured game for iOS (and Android) devices. The title is set between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III, and it will see players interacting in a mobile massive multiplayer online (MMO) game.

Players will be taking up the familiar classes within the franchise, including the Barbarian, Monk, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Wizard, and the Necromancer:

”Diablo Immortal is an all-new mobile massively multiplayer online action–role-playing game for iOS and Android. Taking place between the end of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and the beginning of Diablo III, this new chapter in the Diablo saga puts players in the role of one of six iconic classes—Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, and Wizard—in an ongoing battle against the demonic forces of Skarn, Herald of Terror.”

If that tickles your fancy, then how about a cinematic trailer with the polish and production value people have come to expect from Blizzard titles?

And since you probably want to see how the game looks while you’re actually playing it, here’s a gameplay trailer, too:

At the time of publication, Blizzard/Activision has not actually announced any form of a release date for Diablo Immortal, but we can all keep our fingers crossed that it arrives sooner rather than later.

What do you think? Can’t wait to play it? Or is this already a skip from you? Let us know in the comments
