Apple will be leasing out a new Culver City four-story building still under development after HBO pulled out from the deal for unknown reasons. The Cupertino company will be leasing out the full 128,000 sq. ft. office space.
Apple has already leased out 85,000 sq. ft. space near Culver City and this 128,000 sq. ft. four-story project will be in addition to that. The four-story project is located seven miles east of the Santa Monica Pier and feature office space along with 4,500 sq. ft. of retail space at the ground level.
The project is being developed by Lincoln Property Co. at the corner of Washington and National boulevards, and it is expected to open in late 2019.
“We were very excited about HBO,” Thomas Small, mayor pro tem of Culver City said. “If anything, we’re more excited about Apple.”
Before Apple, HBO was in talks to lease out the property but the deal fell through for some reason. HBO was also interested in leasing out the whole four-story project.
The leased space in Culver City will likely be used by Apple’s original content and video team. After all, Beats headquarters are also located in the same city.
Considering that the four-story project is still over a year away from being completed, there’s a long wait involved to see what Apple does with this space.
