AppleCare+ To Cost $39 for the HomePod in the U.S.

For any potential customers of Apple’s first smart speaker, and who might happen to want to cover that device with Apple’s protection plan, the AppleCare+ price in the United States has been surfaced.

As first reported by 9to5Mac, based on documentation the publication was able to see that was initially distributed to Apple Stores, the AppleCare+ price for Apple’s HomePod will be set at $39 in the United States. This price covers AirPort products, and “adds up to two incidents of accidental damage from handling for HomePod, each subject to a $39 service fee”.

As noted in the report, and is typical for AppleCare+ coverage, it does not cover any cosmetic damages made to the HomePod, as long as those cosmetic damages don’t interfere with the function of the smart speaker. For those who do sign up for the extended coverage, AppleCare+ offers two years worth of telephone support, which also covers setting up the HomePod and discussing the product’s features.

The HomePod is pried at $349, and the AppleCare+ price point isn’t too bad, considering. This is a smart speaker designed to sit on a flat surface in a home, but accidents do happen, so paying that small fee to get something fixed in case of smart speaker tragedy might not be a bad idea. For many Apple customers, getting AppleCare+ for the device is basically second nature, so it would be interesting to see if that’s the case for the HomePod, too, considering its very different use case scenario.

Do you plan on picking up AppleCare+ for the HomePod?
