Apple today officially seeded the sixth developer beta for iOS 11.2.5. The company also seeded the same beta for the public beta testers as well. It is available to download and install now for registered developers, and can be accessed from the Apple Developer Center. For those who have a registered device with the appropriate configuration profile, the new software can be installed as an over-the-air update.
As of right now, and based on the number system for Apple’s updates, this appears to be a minor software upgrade. It will likely aim to fix any issues that have been discovered in the last public update, iOS 11.2.1, as well as aim to improve performance and other tweaks. It is not likely that this software update will include any major forward-facing features for the end user, but if anything like that is discovered, we will update this post accordingly.
That does not mean that Apple has launched all of the promised iOS 11 features just yet, however. Users are still waiting for iCloud support in Messages, and AirPlay 2 is still waiting in the wings as well. While it’s possible that Apple will include these new features in iOS 11.2.5, we may have to wait for a major point upgrade for that.
In a previous beta, it was confirmed that Siri will be able to play podcasts when asked about the news.
