Apple watch OS 4.2.2 Beta

Apple today officially seeded the fifth developer beta of watchOS 4.2.2. Apple typically seeds this software on the same day it seeds the most recent developer beta of tvOS, but the company has since staggered the days just a bit between seeds. That could indicate that a public launch is right around the corner, as Apple has confirmed an iOS update is on the way next week as well.

Developers that want to test the next beta seed can do so after downloading the necessary configuration profile from Apple’s Developer Center. After that, developers must download the software via the Apple Watch iOS app.

Once that is done, to install the pre-release software, the Apple Watch must be connected to the charger, have at least 50 percent battery life, and be within range of the iPhone.

This particular update for watchOS is not a massive new addition to the smartwatch platform. As it stands right now, the minor software uptick appears to be focused on fixing behind-the-scenes issues, and otherwise improving performance for Apple Watch owners.

If there are any new forward-facing user features added to the fifth developer beta of watchOS 4.2.2, we will update this post accordingly.

There is not a public beta for this particular seed, so if you are part of the public beta program, do not expect to see an option for you and your Apple Watch.
