Apple Revamps iOS and macOS App Store Web Interface

Apple has rolled out a new design for the App Store links of iOS and macOS on the web. The new design is based on the revamped App Store that Apple debuted with iOS 11 last year.

The new design puts greater emphasis on screenshots and reviews. Interestingly, Apple displays screenshots from the iPhone X in the web listing. There is now also an option to switch between screenshots for iMessage and Apple Watch for compatible apps.

Since Apple has removed the App Store integration in iTunes, it now displays a heading at the top of iOS app listings that they are only available on the App Store for iOS devices. The new interface also highlights other relevant apps similar to the one the one that you are viewing, what’s new, selected reviews, Family Sharing support, installation size, price, and more. Apple also highlights if an app has received its ‘Editor’s Choice’ award.

The redesigned interface for web listings of iOS and macOS comes months after Apple first released iTunes 12.7 which nixed the iOS App Store integration. The unexpected move did lead to some user backlash and created issues for educational institutions and enterprise customers which is why Apple ended up releasing iTunes 12.6.3 with App Store integration.
