Apple Announces iPad Pro and Mac Event for October 30: ‘There’s More in the Making’

Apple announces iPad Pro event for October 30, 2018

There have been rumblings that Apple was building up to another event in the latter part of the year, focusing this time around on new iPad Pro models and maybe even new Mac hardware as well.

And while we’ve been waiting for an official invite to land for that event, the wait is finally over. Apple has just sent out invitations for an event on Tuesday, October 30. The invitation includes “There’s more in the making”, with a variety of heavily stylized Apple logos as well. Of course, the event invite itself doesn’t include any specific details as to what to expect for the event on October 30, but the rumor mill has that covered.

This event will be a bit smaller than the September event that introduced the iPhone XS, or Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) back in June that introduced iOS 12. This time around, Apple is hosting the event in Brooklyn, New York, rather than the Steve Jobs Theater in California. The location doesn’t necessarily tell us anything, either, but it will be interesting to see if that plays into the announcement at all.

The event takes place in the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Howard Gilman Opera House and begins at 10:00 AM Eastern/7:00 AM Pacific.

As far as what to expect? The primary guess is the new iPad Pro models. There will be two, as usual, with expectations that there will be one with an 11-inch display, and the other with a 12.9-inch screen. Both are destined to feature minimized bezels, similar to the iPhone X, and feature Face ID with the TrueDepth camera system on board. There will not be a physical Home button, and rumor has it the devices will adopt USB-C and drop Lightning.

In addition to that, there are rumors that Apple will be introducing new Mac hardware at the event as well, including a refreshed MacBook Air with a Retina display. There has been some back-and-forth about whether or not this new model will replace the 12-inch MacBook altogether. Apple is also rumored to launch an updated Mac Mini at some point, but it’s possible this device doesn’t get announced at this event.

There may be some surprises, too. We are still waiting for the wireless charging case for the truly wireless headphones, the AirPods. In addition to that, we are also waiting for the wireless charging mat, AirPower, to finally launch. Apple could certainly garner plenty of praise for launching both of those products ahead of the holiday shopping season.

Based on all these rumors, what are you most looking forward to later this month?
