Apple Pulls watchOS 5.1 for Apple Watch Following Bricking Reports

Apple Watch Series 4 Sports Loop

Following reports of watchOS 5.1 bricking certain Apple Watch units, Apple has gone ahead and pulled the update. Many Apple Watch owners reported that their Apple Watch ended up getting bricked while trying to install the watchOS 5.1 update.

While Apple has pulled the watchOS 5.1 update, it has not made it clear what bricked Apple Watch owners need to do. Unlike the iPhone and iPad, one cannot connect their Apple Watch to a PC due to the lack of any physical port. This means that bricked Apple Watch owners will likely have to take their wearable to Apple to get it back up and running.

watchOS 5.1 adds support for 70 new emoji, a new fullscreen color watch face, and group FaceTime audio.

Apple will likely end up releasing a new build of watchOS 5.1 with this bricking issue fixed for good. If you have not already installed the watchOS 5.1 update on your Apple Watch, my recommendation would be to simply wait for Apple to release a revised build.
