Apart from accepting pre-orders for the iPhone XR, Apple has also debuted a new Apple Watch wireless charging with a USB-C connector.
The magnetic charger is the exact same as the one that Apple already sells except that it now comes with a USB-C port at one end instead of USB-A. It is also priced the same as the USB-A version at $29.
This is the first time that Apple is offering a charger for its Apple Watch with USB-C connector. If anything, this indicates at two things: the growing popularity of USB-C in consumer devices and adds further credence to rumors of Apple switching to USB-C for its 2018 iPad Pro lineup.
The 0.3m magnetic charger is in stock on Apple’s online store with a shipping estimate of 1 business day. The charger will also make its way to Apple’s retail stores from next week. For now, Apple is only selling the USB-C Apple Watch magnetic charger with 0.3m wire length, with no word on when a 1m or 2m variant will be available.
On the other hand, there’s still no sign of AirPower which likely points to the wireless charger never seeing the light of the day.
